API Legal Outreach Domestic Violence Clinic

Domestic Violence Restraining Order Clinic — Days, Times and Locations:
1:00 PM, Tuesdays.
Daly City Community Service Center
350 90th Street, Daly City CA 94015
8:30 AM. Wednesdays
South San Francisco Courthouse
1050 Mission Road, South San Francisco CA 94080
No appointment is needed, but individuals need to arrive on time
Who can come? Anyone who is experiencing intimate partner violence or family violence can come to the clinics and receive information and assistance about domestic violence restraining orders (DVRO).
A restraining order may be useful for their protection, and may prevent them from becoming homeless. If a survivor is a co-tenant or co-owns the home with the person hurting them, the judge may order the abuser to move out of the home.
Filing assistance: We file the DVRO petitions in Redwood City on behalf of the petitioners. We also pick up the temporary restraining orders (if issued) for them as well. Petitions completed on Tuesday afternoon are filed on Wednesday. Also, petitions completed by 11:30 AM on Wednesday are filed the same day. Lastly, if person they’re filing against (“Respondent”) lives or work in San Mateo County, we drop off the DVRO packet for service at the Sheriff’s office in Redwood City as well. This means, petitioners save up to three separate trips to Redwood City.

Language assistance: The clinic services are available in English and Tagalog. We have a Spanish interpreter available but only on Tuesday afternoons. For assistance in Spanish and other languages, it is best to call us in advance so we can find an interpreter.
Holidays and Closure: The clinics are closed during court holidays. Also, Tuesday clinics are closed if the following Wednesday is a court holiday.
